Eco-days and Eco-boxes
Organise a workplace or community eco-event to provide an opportunity for your local community, staff, suppliers and customers to recycle their redundant e-waste. Or have an Eco-box in your organisation as a constant way to collect ewaste!
What is an Eco-day?
An Eco Day is an event organised by a local business, organisation or local authority. During this event people can come along and drop off their old waste electrical items which they have had stored in their homes or offices. The items are collected and taken away by Sims for recycling.
Why should you hold an Eco-day?
- CSR activity - It can be a challenge for businesses and organisations to measure the effect of their CSR programme. Eco days can provide a very high profile demonstration of your green credentials, engaging your staff, suppliers, customers and local media.
- Environmental benefits - Recycling of electronic waste such as computers, laptops and TV's prevents harmful substances from entering the environment. The use of materials recycled from waste electrical equipment, results in a much lower energy use than extracting and processing new, raw materials.
How does Sims get involved?
Sims Recycling Solutions provides support for these events in the following ways:

What is an Eco-box?
It's a box from Sims Recycling Solutions which will be sent to you. You can then place this eco-box in your premises to provide an on-going scheme for collection of ewaste items such as TV's, phones, radios, hairdryers and other types of small electrical household and office items.
How does Sims get involved?

Reassurances
If you take part in a Sims Recycling Solutions led eco-box scheme, we can provide reassurance that:
- All e-waste recovered by Sims is recycled at one of our European recycling centres.
- All centres operates to environmentally responsible processes that meet (and often exceed) legislative requirements.
- Data is securely destroyed - all data containing products are shredded into tiny fragments – no-one will be able to get hold of private electronic data held on e-waste such as mobile phones, PDAs and satellite navigation systems.
