Sims Lifecycle Services has become one of the first recycling companies in the UK to receive certification to the Asset Disposal and Information Security Alliance standard (ADISA).

The standard is the first to be developed to encourage and promote best practice in IT asset disposal and to bring a baseline benchmark of service quality into what was a previously unregulated industry. To achieve it, a rigorous audit of the company’s IT asset disposal services was carried out, focussing on risk management, data protection and environmental compliance.
Sims Lifecycle Service’s Jon Godfrey, said: "This standard is very welcome as it will help increase the focus on the importance of data security within the asset disposal market. Some companies are spending millions annually on network security, yet still consider asset disposal an afterthought or even a necessary waste stream. However, when the focus moves away from the asset to the data itself, organisations quickly realise that data carrying assets handed to any third party without proper controls in place, is quite simply a security breach waiting to happen. We are pleased to be one of the first recycling companies to achieve ADISA certification as it will give our customers full confidence that they are getting the very best service through a standard specifically written for the industry.”
