Sims Recycling Solutions has announced that all printed stationery used at its Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling facilities and offices around the UK is now derived from sustainable sources. The switch to 100% ‘green’ printed stationery is part of the company’s on-going drive to maximise its sustainability, following a review of ‘green’ printed stationery offered by environmentally accredited stationery supplier, J G Fenn Ltd.
Every single item of printed stationery now supplied by Fenns, from weighbridge tickets to invoices, is now manufactured using materials from sustainable sources.
Group Purchasing Controller, Paul Colledge, said: “We are delighted to have completed the switch to 100% environmentally friendly printed stationery. Not only is the stationery sustainably sourced, a carbon footprint report is collated for each delivery. We can then monitor the number and frequency of orders in order to keep fuel consumption to an absolute minimum.”
Paul went on: “Sustainable printed stationery makes a lot of sense to us as we are ranked as one of the World’s Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations. Our activities in metals recycling saved the emission of 13.6m tonnes of CO2 worldwide last year, so it follows that our commitment to sustainability should continue into all areas of our operations.”
J G Fenn Ltd’s National Accounts Manager, Stephen Wiles, said: “We are finding that forward looking companies like Sims Recycling Solutions are increasingly looking for more environmentally friendly suppliers and products. Our new range of green and ethically sourced products is proving extremely popular and it is very encouraging from an environmental point of view that more companies are embracing the green message.”
Paul concluded: “This is an important milestone in our quest to drive sustainability throughout our business. We are now working with Fenns to increase the quantity of green and sustainable products used in our office supplies, catering and janitorial operations.”
Sims Recycling Solutions announced last week that it had acquired the electronics recycling assets of Wincanton PLC. The newly acquired sites will also be supplied with green stationery in due course.
