If you:

  • Are a high calibre and ambitious student with plenty of enthusiasm
  • Have achieved (or are predicted) a 2:2 degree result, or above, in any degree discipline
  • Wish to pursue a successful, long term, career in a management role where your commitment and ability will be rewarded
  • Enjoy working with a wide range of people in a commercial and fast paced environment
  • Want to be part of a well respected and ethical organisation
  • Play a part in creating innovative and industry leading recycling and recovering processes

Then the Sims Trainee Management Programme may be the future for you.

Sims Metal Management is the global leader in metals and electronics recycling, with over 250 locations on five continents and with 6000+ magnificent employees. Our leading position has been built through an uncompromising commitment to safety, customer service and the expertise and loyalty of our extraordinary people.

Sims Recycling Solutions is the part of the group who offers electronics recovery and recycling services to global and local organisations. Sims Recycling Solutions recovers over 1.5 million computer equipment units each year for re-use or recycling. Our European e-waste centres have the annual capacity to recycle over 350,000 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Sims Lifecycle Services is the part of the business which specialises in IT asset recovery, aiming to ensure our clients get the most value from their otherwise redundant computers, laptops and other IT equipment.

The scheme lasts between two and three years depending on your development rate.

We accept around 5 candidates each year.

The scheme includes:

  • Rotational placement programme – Typically you will undertake a nine month placement, at a number of our UK sites.  This provides you with the opportunity of working in a variety of departments, ensuring you develop a holistic understanding of the business.
  • Projects - You will be asked to undertake practical and challenging projects that will add value to the business.
  • Assigned coach – Whose role is to help you gain the most from your Training Programme.
  • Personal mentor - Available at any time for advice and help.
  • Reviews & feedback – In order to ensure that you develop all the skills needed to become a successful manager.

A very competitive package is offered to all employees in terms of salaries, benefits and on-going training and development.

The annual salary for Trainee Managers starts at £23,000 depending on qualifications and experience. There is an additional flexibility allowance to cover the costs of travel and living arrangements of £2,400 per annum.

The succession planning process for management roles is currently targeted up to three years ahead and our aim is to ensure that all our Trainee Managers are successfully placed in an appropriate role on completion of their training.

Applications for this year are now closed.
